We finished three of our six horses in the top five of their divisions at the $100,000 Ocala Jockey Club International Three-Day Event! Z, owned by Thomas Tierney, Simon Roosevelt, Suzanne Martin Lacy, Ann Jones and Caroline Moran, was phenomenal on cross country, jumping clear with 1.2 time penalties to finish 2nd in the CIC3* on 46.3.
David Garrett’s Indian Mill jumped clear and inside the time in his first run back at this level since Aachen last year to finish 3rd on 48.4. It was incredible for him to do that! He is on the market to the right person who might want to bid for the World Equestrian Games next year.
John and Kristine Norton’s I’m Sew Ready jumped clear with 9.2 time penalties to finish 11th on 65.6. We had a bit of bad luck yesterday when he slipped coming into the last line in show jumping, so I took him around a little slower on cross country.
Joan Nichols’ Lup the Loop and I are still getting to know each other and unfortunately picked up 20 jumping penalties at the tough double of corners at fence 9. I could have done a bit of a better job there, and it’s all part of the process of getting to know each other.
In the CCI2*, Fernhill Singapore, owned by Shawn and Sue Foley, Tom Tierney and Annie Jones, placed 4th on 43.4, one of five horses in the division to finish on his dressage score. Fernhill Mystery, owned by Caroline Moran, Tom Tierney, Bridget Colman, and Dave and Patricia Vos, is still a new ride for me, and I learned what I need to do with him in warm-up today.
Thank you to my team, owners, sponsors and supporters for standing by me while I took the time I needed to heal from my injury. It’s great to be back competing, and we are looking forward to an exciting 2018 season. I will be making 2018 plans for the horses with the owners and new US Eventing Performance Director Erik Duvander, and our focus is firmly set on the World Equestrian Games.
