It has been a very special weekend at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event. The Mr. Medicott Syndicate’s Mr. Medicott competed at his first CCI4* since 2014. To have him jump a clear show jumping round today and finish 4th to win the Rolex/USEF National CCI4* Championship is a testament to how hard my entire team has worked to get him back to competing at this level.
I am so grateful to everyone who played a role and especially indebted to his owners for their patience as we gave Cave all the time he needed to make this comeback. Most of all, I’m grateful to Cave, who told us every step of the way that he wanted to keep going. He showed so much heart and at 18 years old loves his job more than ever. This is the final CCI4* of his career, but I look forward to continue competing him for his long as he wants to.
I’m so proud of all three horses for finishing inside the top 10. Tom Tierney and Annie Jones’ Fernhill Fugitive had his best finish at Rolex to date in 8th place. John and Kristine Norton’s I’m Sew Ready completed his first CCI4* in 10th place and will now go back to Kristen Bond as she returns to competing after having her daughter Berkley.
Lastly, I want to thank everyone for showing so much support for Lee Lee this weekend. I’m very grateful the event was live streamed because she really enjoyed watching back home. The horse world is truly a family and we are humbled by all of the love and support. To my owners, sponsors, team and supporters, you are the reason we can have weekends like this. Thank you!
