We are so proud of Mr. Candyman, owned by Annie Jones, Caroline Moran, Bridget Colman and Tom Tierney, for winning the CCI3* at Jersey Fresh! Elmo started off with a personal best in the dressage, battled through pouring rain with the fastest cross country round, and jumped a beautiful clear in show jumping. He gets a bit better each time he competes and now has three international wins at three-star level on his record.
Z, owned by Tom Tierney, Simon Roosevelt, Suzanne Lacy, Annie Jones and Caroline Moran, was a bit strong on cross country, so I also have some homework to do with him before we had to Ireland for Tattersalls. He jumped a super clear show jumping round to finish 6th in the CIC3*.
The Revelation Group’s Fernhill Revelation had a personal best of 42.7 in the dressage in the CIC3*, but I unfortunately jumped the wrong first fence on cross country. I’m confident that Warren will be ready to go on to Tattersalls after a final cross country school.
The new cross country course designer Capt. Mark Phillips did a good job of utilizing the land that is available at the Horse Park of New Jersey. There was a lot more flow to the course this year, and I think overall the course was more forward-riding and horse-friendly.
It has been a year since Philippa Humphreys passed away at Jersey Fresh. Her husband Pete, daughter Millie, and family and friends are always in our thoughts. Donations to Millie’s college fund are still being accepted here.
The rain did not make things easy for our team, but everyone rose to the occasion. Thank you to all for persevering in difficult conditions. Thank you also to the volunteers, organizers and everyone involved in the event.
