Mr. Candyman was the big winner for the team at Fair Hill International, jumping a fast and clear cross country round to finish 1st in the CIC3*. We’ve been working on getting Elmo more confident in himself on cross country, and he is starting to feel more secure on course. This is his second win at the level, and I’m very proud of how far he’s come. Congrats to his owners Annie Jones, Bridget Colman, Caroline Moran and Tom Tierney!
Z, owned by Tom Tierney, Simon Roosevelt, Suzanne Lacy, Annie Jones and Caroline Moran, had the second fastest cross country round in the division to finish in 2nd place in the CIC3*. The course was designed for forward riding, and I did make him wait in a few spots like at the water. It was a great prep run ahead of Tattersalls in Ireland, where he received a Land Rover/USEF competition grant to compete in June.
Fernhill Singapore, owned by Sue and Shawn Foley, Tom Tierney and Annie Jones, was leading the CIC2* until I jumped the wrong fence on cross country. The important thing is Singapore thinks he won anyways and was super all weekend. He’s a very exciting horse and we can’t wait to see what the future has in store for him.
Annie Jones’ The Manager was a star on cross country, finishing just two seconds over the optimum time to place 5th in the CIC*. And the best news of all from the weekend: Olivia and Amy Ruth Borun’s Santa’s Playboy now have three clear cross country rounds on their record at the one-star level.
Thank you to Shelby Allen for these photos of Mr. Candyman and Z on cross country, and thank you to the entire Fair Hill staff and all the volunteers for their hard work. My team, sponsors, owners and family deserve all the credit for the weekend. Next up … the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event.
