We’re so proud of Icabad Crane for winning the Retired Racehorse Project’s $10,000 America’s Most Wanted Thoroughbred Contest at Pimlico. The whole afternoon was pretty incredible and inspiring watching these off-track Thoroughbreds — where their lives have gone and what the other trainers have been able to achieve with them in all these other disciplines.
Thank you to Icabad’s owners Graham and Anita Motion for believing in this horse, all his fans who voted for him, and his sponsors SmartPak, Cosequin Equine, Brook Ledge Horse Transportation, Middleburg Tack Exchange, and Teigland Franklin & Brokken Dvm’s PA.
We will be donating the prize money to various Thoroughbred charities to continue supporting second careers for these amazing animals. Icabad will finish out his season going Training level at Virginia Horse Trials, and the plan is to keep him in training with me for next year so we can see how far he can go.
